Default Sprouted seeds are a success!

Ringo and Lola have been eating sprouted seeds for the last week or so and seem to really like them. I ordered a sprouter and seeds from Sprout People. I found the link here on TB. The seeds are their blend for small birds and they sprout rapidly. It is rather fun to watch the sprouts grow. Prior to this they were eating seed, a bit of pellets and a lot of dark green leafy veggies. They eat less dry seed now and eat the sprouts first.

That's great to hear! Sprouts are a wonderful thing to be obsessed with

I'm so glad it paid off and they're thoroughly enjoying their new diet!

Well done - sprouts are so good for them! And a spin off is that you can plant the leftovers and grow lovely fresh seed for them if you are so inclined! Depending on your climate of course - I can only do it in the UK in the spring and summer.

Very nice! I have been considering ordering the sprouting kit, but want to look locally first. Shipping anything here is so expensive, sometimes more than the cost of the item. Glad to hear they're loving their new healthy food!

Congrats, I know you must feel the great satisfaction of knowing your feeding them some very beneficial food. I need to do more sprouting myself, keep up the good work...

WOOOHOOO ! ! !

I'm always overly excited when someone posts anything about sprouts. They are my obsession.

If you look at the ingredient list on the bag of seed that you received, you should be able to find all those ingredients locally. I get all mine from the health food store, and the Bulk Barn (Not sure if you have that where you are)

I store all the seeds, grains, and legumes separately in glass Mason jars, and mix them together in different ratios when I put everything together. I also do this for the people who have bought baby budgies from me, and want to continue feeding sprouts for them.

I toss the leftovers outside, to feed the wild birds in my area. Last week, we counted 21 red cardinals in the backyard pigging out.

so if I am understanding this right...I can take the seeds that would normally get tossed out...plant them and when they sprout I can give them to my birds?

Do I have to wash them before giving to the birds? Or can they "forge" for the sprouts in a pan of growing sprouts?
