Default Daily Diet

Hi,

Can someone please give me a detailed list of foods I can feed my budgies on a daily basis ? I have read many topics in Diet & Nutrition which were of great help and I know almost all foods that budgies can consume, have gone through number of websites, however im confused as a first time budgie owner about what i can feed them on daily basis. Many people keep giving different advises about how i should not be feeding them certain foods everyday..for example someone said i cant feed them corn everyday or i cant feed them carrots everyday...so im really confused and therefore i need help. I dont wanna over do or under do food for my babies...i feel so helpless knowing that i may be doing the wrong things in terms of their diet, your response will really help them lead a long healthy life.

Note: As of now Im giving them the following foods on a daily basis.

Boiled corn, sprouted mung, beet, carrot, broccoli, apple, boiled egg white, cucumber, mixed seeds, mint leaves, coriander leaves, rocket lettuce and brown rice

Thanks a ton,
Elizza

That sounds like an excellent diet to me but I am hoping one of the experienced budgie members can comment if something is missing or should be added for a daily routine.

I've been told a pellet based diet which is no easy task if you have a budgie that is use to seeds. Mine get pellets with seeds sparingly with veggies everyday. Spinach, romaine lettuce, carrots and peppers are their favorites. I don't do egg food, only when molting. I have a female and I've been told to avoid egg food when she's in breeding condition (I have no plans to breed) as this, I guess, encourages it.

The best for budgies is one that incorporates a good quality seed mix, pellets, a variety of vegetables and egg food.

Egg food is generally offered once a week unless a bird is molting in which case it can be given more frequently. When a budgie is in breeding condition and one is trying to discourage egg laying, it is best cut back on high protein foods at that time.

Sprouted seeds are always a good choice for your budgies as they have a higher nutritional value than dry seed.

Thank you all for the responses I'm so relieved...Deborah your links were really amazing and extremely helpful...however I've been told that pellets aren't good for budgies although the seed mix does have them my budgies don't end up eating them. Nevertheless I am all relaxed now knowing they will be just fine. Attaching a pic of the 6 munchkins and their seed mix.
