Talking Sprouting seeds!

Hey everybirdie!!! So I just ordered this:

I'm going to start sprouting finally! So now I need to find a good place to get some seeds for sprouting, and pretty cheap if at all possible. Anyone have any suggestions?

I can't wait to get started!!!

Kristen,

I see you bought the 4-tray Victorio Kitchen Sprouter which is the same as the one I have.

Here are a couple of links that may be helpful:

Have fun!

Thanks Deb! Are there any seed that they can't have? I know there are veggies they can't have, but can they have any seed so long as I sprout it?

Snap! Just yesterday I ordered the same one here in UK! (Amazon.co.uk). And I am going to have the same questions about where & what seeds to get as you.
And so thanks for the links Deb.

I actually plan to buy the Lil' bird mix, but I wouldn't mind getting some others. I read about that seed package, but it doesn't say anything about other seeds they can and can't have.

Anyone link me to any sites? I can't seem to find anything! Thanks guys!!!

You can always sprout:
alfalfa, barley, canary seed, grass seed, millet (red and white), milo, nyjer, non-hulled oats, brown rice, rye, wheat and seeds of any of the vegetables/herbs listed on the safe foods list.

Edited 2nd Paragraph Text for better clarity:
You will want to purchase organic seeds which have not been hulled.
I don't think you will find any seeds that you would want to purchase to sprout that would be unsafe for your budgies.

However, if there happens to be a specific seed you are concerned about then I'd simply leave it out of the sprouting mix. Offhand, I can't think of what you might ever want to sprout that isn't on the safe food list.

Thanks Deb for all the seed information.

The sources over here will be different from yours -- I'll be searching for what look like the best local ones & link what I find for any others in the UK who are interested.

I am so sorry, I am having a hard time understanding that 2nd paragraph Deb. I think I've read it now 6 times, . Maybe it's my mind messing it up, lol. Maybe a little clarification please?

Sorry, Kristen. Let me try again.
You will want to purchase organic seeds which have not been hulled. I don't think you will find any seeds that you would want to purchase to sprout that would be unsafe for your budgies. If you find some specific seed you might want to consider sprouting and you are unsure about it, I will be happy to help you research it at that time.
