Success!!

I've tried, whole and chopped. Carrots, Kale, Dark green lettuce, Asparagus, Parsley, Zucchini and Cilantro. All three birds acted like it was poison.

I mixed finely chopped kale and finely grated carrots with mashed boiled eggs. They sorted through it and ate the carrots and egg but left the kale.

Tonight I thought, hmmm. So I got out the food processor and pureed Kale, Carrots and Zucchini. I then mixed it with some seed (I know not recommended).

BOOM! They are fighting over it LOL!!! No Budgie is being hurt. The girls are just doing the dolphin noise at each other when the other gets near her bowl (they each have a bowl)

Hopefully this gives others an idea of something to try

That is hilarious with the dolphin noises! It's wonderful that you finally got your flock to eat their veggies. And I used seed when I first started getting them on veggies. You can always gradually reduce the seed as they start loving their veggies more.

But Congratulations on your wild success!!!

Thanks Jean! I literally squealed with excitement when they started chowing down on it haha! I do plan to reduce the seed mixed in. I'm just so dang happy something worked

We call the dolphin noise, machine gunning each other! We have one girl that always does this. All someone has to do is look at her or breathe next to her and she makes this noise.

Another thing to try when trying them on new veggies, is eat some yourself, and make lots of yummy noises, and get super excited over them. They will see your excitement and soon try some themselves.

That's great that your patience and determination has paid off

Way to go, Angie! You must be very excited that the fids have decided they enjoy their veggies

Oh, and to Harvey, Cosmo, and Snow: , little birds!

Yes, that was the message, although that seems to depend on the seed mix and it makes it a somewhat personal choice We have Dr. Harvey's Best Parakeet mix and it smells and tastes like rye bread. It's surprisingly tasty, and I'm not surprised at all that my flock loves it. It's a bit hard to chew, of course!

I think we may have to open a Dr. Harvey's Anonymous!
