Default Salt Licks

So...
A cuttlebone, of course.
A mineral block, of course.
But what about salt licks?

I remember my mother putting one outside for wild birds, and they would just attack it in droves. But those were different species of wild bird.
I tried doing an internet search, and another forum posted that salt kills parakeets...is this true?

I haven't looked into it myself but know a number of exhibition breeders who have a block of rock salt in the flights for the birds to chew on. I would imagine that would be different from feed foods with a high level of table salt, which would be dangerous.

Hello, budgies do not need salt licks. They do like the taste of it though, if they can get to it they will.

I would not advise you to give your budgies salt as a "treat". Since they all should have a mineral block in their cage already, as well as a cuttlebone, both of those already contain trace amounts of salt that is all they need
