Hi! Good news! Frost ate quite a bit of seed tonight! I'm so relieved! So I have another question. I've read through several posts on diet and nutrition and know that a well-balanced diet is best. At the pet store where we bought Frost, we were told that he is 4 months old and we should wait until he is 6 months to introduce vegetables and fruit and only feed seed until that time. Is that correct, or could he start trying new foods now? I tried to find the answer in previous posts, but may have overlooked it. Thanks so much!
You can begin introducing new foods to Frost immediately.
Good breeders wean their budgies to vegetables, pellets and a good seed mix so the budgie will already have a varied diet.
Waiting until 6 months of age is simply going to make the transition to new foods more difficult.
Please refer to the stickies in the Diet and Nutrition section of the forum for tips on how to introduce new foods to Frost.
Thank you so much! I thought it sounded odd to have to wait until the bird is 6 months old to eat fruits and veggies! I'll buy some things tonight at the store and we'll start introducing Frost to some new, healthy foods right away! Thanks again!
