Question budgie feeding times?

as much as i read about budgie nutrition, i couldn't find information about when and how much a budgie is fed.
i know that it's food should contain the proper amount of pellets and fresh veggies, along with seeds and sprouted seeds, but when do you offer each type of food?
do i need to give my budgie fresh food and in the morning, noon and evening? or can i just leave the dry foods in his cage througout the day while offering veggies in times when i can take them out? and if so, how will i know his diet contains the right amount of each food type?
every site says 40% pellets, 40% veggies and 10-20% seed mix but how do i measure it?

Due to their fast metabolism, budgies need to have a steady and reliable food source available on the cage at all times.
So depending on your budgie's current diet that would mean having seed, pellets or a mix of both 24/7.
Depending on your availability, you can offer veggie meals multiple times per day. Mine will usually get two big veggie meals per day, one in the morning, the other in the afternoon. Depending on the amount offered and on the weather sometimes they get their greens 3 or 4 times per day, especially on the hot Summer days where the fresh food will spoil faster.
As for the portion sizes there are differences depending if your budgie is currently on a mainly seed diet or not.

You will find all the detailed information on this subject at the Diet and Nutrition section.

I/ve noticed that my budgies eat what they need. They have 24/7 both seeds and greens. Very often dry herbs. They eat what they want and when they want. I measured 2 tsp of seeds per bird and noticed that they eat a little less so I dont measure that any more because it is harder for them to reach such small amount and they wont eat more anyway. Only problem I have when I offer them fresh food other color than green. In that situation, they need to try it for the first time from my hand and with little millet so that they learn that it is food. Due to curiosity they would probably try it anyway, but not that fast. Only food they dont have 24/7 is millet which I use as treat. And when they have fruit I take it out before sleep.
