Cisco is on a distinguished road
Default Radish Greens Warning

I keep reading in various places that radish greens are safe for Budgies. I usually by radishes so this time thought I would see if Cisco liked the greens since he likes lettuce and celery greens.

He did eat some radish greens, but about an hour later he started puking up his crop and flinging his head back and forth trying to get his crop empty. He did this for about 10~15 minutes, but seemed OK when he was done.

I always thought radish leaves felt hind of "rough" to the touch, so I took a 10x magnifying glass and looked at the surface of the radish leavers. I saw all these tiny transparent (no color) sharp barbs all over the surface!!

So I think maybe these barbs might have caused Cisco to puke his crop out ... it's the only thing I could associate it with. Not sure if all radish leaves are this way, but no more radish greens for Cisco.

oh no! I hope Cisco is okay! I've never fed radish to by budgies and I will steer clear of the greens. Better safe than sorry.

Cisco is fine, but it had me scared that something major was wrong. I think some of the thorns on the radish leaves didn't agree with his crop ... I can see why.

I've never tried radish for my budgies, and I certainly won't now! Thanks for the warning Cisco
