Question Want review of new food blend

Has anyone tried the Wild Harvest daily blend nutrition diet for parakeet? I was giving my birds another palette and thought of changing it up so that they can get different nutrient. It has colors but they are saying that its from natural resource (FD&C blue). also it states that the red seeds are red millet which seemed right cos i googled it and saw the same seeds. but i am hesitant to give them colored food. i still have old food left for about a week, i gotta buy something before that. any help can be greatly appreciated.

I have always read to stay away from food dyes. Birds wouldn't eat dyes in the wild so I try to keep their food as natural as possible. A brand I like is Volkman. Volkman's AS Parakeet, 4lb

They offer a high quality budgie mix that my birds go crazy for! It always smells fresh and has a good variety of seeds/dried fruits and veggies

Arrow thank yu

Thank you. have you notice the blue pieces in the mix you mentioned? seems it uses some coloring too. but all of these says that these colors come from fruit and veggie. although blue is not a natural color i see very often.

I believe the blue you are seeing is the pieces of cracked oyster shells! The blue is the natural color of the shell Not sure why they put those in there, my budgies ignore them

I just re read the link FaeryBee posted.. it's really helpful. I am always looking for high quality, reasonably priced seed mixes. I'm currently trying Zupreem Sensible Seed mixed with Zupreem Smart Select... (I still use Volkman's as my staple, though... it's a favorite at my house).. I do use pellets (Roudybush mostly) as well.

Thank you all for the help. I gave them the new palette and they seemed to adjust very well with it. i didn't notice, but it has slight orange flavour, i was concerned they won't like it but they didn't mind.
I am planning to start making some homemade palette for them.Collecting recipes for it. if any one have any, please let me know.

My birds all love the Volkmans and I very much like the orange scent it has.

With regard to recipes, please check the Recipes for Budgies section of the forum.

Best wishes!
