Default Wood in food?

I have literally had this question for about 10 years. Ever since I had Priscilla (the first one), I've noticed that there's these weird wood like things in the bird food. Premium, Wild Harvest, ZuPreem. They've all had them.

Does anyone know what this is, why it's there and what purpose it has? I figured maybe it just comes off of the ingredients or something but I don't know. I've been wanting to know for a long time though.

To me, it seems like either seed pods or parts of the grain plant (stems, husks, etc.) that couldn't quite make it out during production. It makes sense to expect some dried pieces of vegetation based on the way the grain is harvested.

I've seen these bits in my seed, too, and my girl Mallorn just ignores them. Since they're part of the grain plants, they won't hurt them

Okay then! I figured they had to have come from the ingredients themselves since "tree bark" isn't part of the ingredients list.

Yes, I see them in the seed mix I get from Haiths as well. I just pick it out if I happen to see it.

Yeah that's what I do. My mind just registers it as "that's wood and it doesn't belong in there" so I just take it out.
