Default Haiths Bravo seed mix

I've been using this for a while but just lately I've noticed there are lots of bits of stalk in the mix and today I've found what looks to be some kind of dead Beatle. Anyone had any problems with Haiths? And is it safe to continue using this seed. It's getting to the point I feel I can't trust anything for budgies here in the UK.

I use Haith’s and haven’t had any problems with it.
Haven’t noticed any stalks or bugs, but only ordered twice from them. Perhaps you’ve got a batch ‘from the bottom of the pot’
Try contacting them and asking for a replacement.

Thx yes I've emailed them about it. In the meantime do you think it's safe to continue giving it or should I rush out in the morning and get what I can locally until I can get a replacement?

If it were just the 1 isolated bug, I would examine the seed carefully but then conclude it was just an odd event.
If the mix has stalks etc also in there, I would be seriously questioning the quality and not use it unless absolutely necessary.

The last few batches I've had from them have had little stalks in there. Few here and there. Obviously I make sure none get in the dish. This is first time I've seen a bug though. Not sure what on earth I could change to though anyone here recommend anything?

I originally used petsathomeís (now discontinued) premium budgie mix.
They have a normal budgie mix, which Iím hoping will at least be clean and safe, and likely safer than the bulk scoop bin seed you find in a lot of smaller shops.
Most of the recommended quality seed mixes youíll find on this site, unfortunately need to be mail ordered from overseas.
Sorry I havenít any more suggestions.

Thanks for all the info. Hopefully Haiths will answer in the morning see what they say and go from there. Unfortunately I don't live near a pets at home so probably something like vitakraft would be only option that I could get hold of right away.

Pets at home do have home delivery so you could order from them.
I'd just check carefully as I have got a bag from them before and it's had sunflower seeds in a budgie mix. Wasn't impressed!

As for Haiths, I regularly use it and haven't had any issues.
There is the occasional 'stalk' but this isn't uncommon or dangerous as it's just the stalk from the millet seed.
The bug isn't so nice and I'd hope they would offer something as a goodwill gesture, but again, it's probably going to happen on occasion just because it's seed and I imagine the occasional bug getting in would be something that would happen.

I've been using Haith's for a long time and yes, they do have the occasional stalk in there, but I still think the quality of the seed is so much better than any other seed mix I have bought. However, if you're not happy with it, you'll have to try and source an alternative. I have some misgivings about the quality of the larger branded pet food after seeing the Trill sprouting seed experiment and just can't bring myself to try anything that's bagged or boxed up like that now.

Thanks for the reply, yes I'm sure your right I've been getting Haiths a while too hopefully it's just a one off and I'll just check carefully as I use it until I can get a new bag it takes a few days from Haiths. I get the tonic mix from them too which Eva loves that's always been fine too but I get that in much smaller quantities. I'll update on the outcome as there are a few of us using Haiths.

It's always very telling of a company with how they deal with complaints. I'll be interested to hear what they say.

I use the tonic seed too. I always give them a couple of pots with a little in.
