Default What are your thoughts on this "Chop" food?

I found a place here in NZ that sells "Chop", or a daily blend of fresh fruit and vegetables and grains pre-chopped into daily portions for your bird. I'm keen to try it (sounds yummy and convenient!) but am still new in the proper diet area and want Kowhai to get all the nutriants he needs (especially as he's moulting right now!)

It looks like they switch up the vegetables with adding new or different ones now and again according to the season here in NZ.

I'd like to add this to Kowhai's regular diet of pellets (and some seeds (the little piggy not wanting to give up his seeds!)). Any thoughts?

Hi there, I'd be very interested to see what everyone thinks about this too. It looks scrumptious in the photo. I've been looking to try a chop mix but haven't had any luck finding a supplier here in Aus. I wonder if the place you found ships to Aus, or if they only ship within NZ because it's a food product. Could you possibly PM me the website please, if it's not too much trouble?

By the way, your little Kowhai is adorable. I hope we'll see more of him.

Wow, that looks fantastic! I’m sure that would be a great addition to Kowhai’s diet.

That’s interesting. It looks great, if you’re comfortable with it being prepared somewhere else out of your control in regard to contaminants, going bad in transit in hot weather etc.

How is it shipped since it’s perishable? It sure saves work. Let us know if you decide to try .

You're not wrong. If ever you find something here that you'd like and can't get, I'd be more than happy to be the middle man and help you out (providing of course the product doesn't violate either countries customs rules. We don't want anything to get confiscated). Ask any time.

I ended up ordering a months supply. It shipped out in 2 days chilled and It has daily servings in mini ziplock bags (would prefer something more recyclable). But Kowhai seems to enjoy it! He digs out the rice and grains first, but he's getting some vegge in there too. He does seem to like it!
It was 42.00 NZD (with shipping) for a 30 day supply. I may try to make my own for next month and freeze it and see how much cheaper it is/how Kowhai likes it in comparison. :>

Side note: I don't know why, but seeing his beak all messy with his food is so adorable I can't get enough of it!

He looks adorable standing on the edge of his bowl, eating his healthy food. He really looks like he's enjoying it. I'd be very interested to hear how it goes if you end up making your own. I just finished making up some that I ordered, but so far my two are less than interested! Kowhai needs to come and have a word in their ears.

Oh that’s nice! Kowhai looks like he’s thoroughly enjoying it! Glad it worked out for you.
