I share morning bananas with my boy and he loves eating the stringy bits I pull off for him and then will suck them up in the same way people suck up noodles! He now gets so excited about it that he eye pins while eating it!
What foods do your birds pin over or get really excited about?
My two love cilantro, dill, corn, peas, spinach, and romaine lettuce. Corn is the big winner; they will eat the loose kernels but also love when I cut off the end of cob, and they run around it while biting each one. They do not like any fruit at all, though if I am eating a banana, Sweetie will insist on having a taste and then looks at me disgusted when I continue to eat it after he's tried it and didn't like it.
My little ones like different types of food, but some favorites of each one are grapes, pears, and carrots. Also, one of my lady budgies (kiwi) has a thing for mandarins, she just loves to nibble them for minutes, something that she doesn't do with any other fruit. Plus, they all like cilantro, but they only like it if it's fresh and wet, after a few seconds of nibbling it wet, they just drop it.
My 3 budgies love a huge variety of food, except they donít seem to like fruit (which is fine as itís high in sugar). They get (& love) Harrisonís pellets as well as the Zupreem fruity pellets along with their seed and each day they get a fresh chop mix that I make myself. Some vegetables I use in their chop are- corn (definitely a favourite), broccoli, pumpkin, sweet potato, peas, celery, carrot, spinach and more. Of course I donít use all these vegetables at once. I change them mix around. They also enjoy fresh leaves from the garden, like gum leaves/small branches, mint, bottlebrush, kangaroo paw, boronia, gardenia are a few. Their very favourite food though has to be fresh sprouted seeds. They go mad for their sprouts and itís so good for them.
