Default Can budgies eat pumpkin

Hi,

I have brought cutie a pumpkin but how shall I give it to her do I need to cook it if so how?? or raw is fine.

Plus for the seeds I want it to be nutritional for her but can I give the seeds directly without sprouting or the sprouting ones will be healthier.

Yes, it's fine to give Cutie pumpkin

Safe Foods for Budgies

Remember to feed it in moderation however.
Giving it to her raw is fine. I doubt she is going to eat the pumpkin seeds as they are very large.
You could tray sprouting a few of them - sprouted seeds are always healthier.

Hi Deborah,

Why do I need to feed it in moderation? Is there anything I need to look out for?

Everything should be fed in moderation! To make sure your budgie doesn't have too much of it, since having too much of something can be bad as well as not having enough of it.

As Elora indicated, foods should be always fed in moderation. Keep in mind that if Cutie isn't used to a new vegetable and eats too much of it, the food may cause runny poops.

I'd feed pumpkin in moderation, because it's got a high water content and that could lead to runny, orange poop.
