It's been 2 weeks since I got him and from the start I noticed his tail slightly bobbing from time to time but I thought it was because of the stress of his new home. But it's been two weeks now, not much, he's not totally settled up but I'm worried. He doesn't show any other signs of illness except being sleepy but it's more because of boredom, can't blame him look at his narrow cage but I'm trying to get him a nice big and safe cage so it's taking some time. :/
The problem is, there's no avian vets where I live, so I'm super worried.
That's not a pronounced tail bob. Budgies will bob their tails slightly after a moment of activity, after flying around for example or after playing with a given toy. Budgies can at times also very faintly (hardly noticeable) bob their tails when they are about to sleep and this is considered normal.
Have you searched for an exotic vet's clinic? They can treat bird there too.
I also don't have an avian vet on the town where I live and I travel with my birds whenever it's required.
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
But he's not very active, since the cage doesn't allow very much activity. I should really buy him another one but I don't want to rush things, I want to get him the best cage I could afford. But in the video he's sleepy indeed, I always notice the tail bobbing when he's sleepy, but is this what you call, hardly noticeable? If it's then that's a relief!
