Hello! We purchased our new Budgie yesterday. After getting her home, I notice her beak appears to be cracked. She still eats and plays fine. Should I be concerned? I plan to get to an Avian vet for a check up at the end of the week, should I try to get her in sooner? Thanks for any insight you have!

She's beautiful This looks like normal beak moulting, the routine shedding of the outer layers of the beak to replenish it and renew it.

It's perfectly normal and will go away on its own

That's reassuring!! I was very nervous! We've been told she is 13 weeks old, do they shed that young?

I agree with StarlingWings and yes, it is normal for a budgie to begin shedding at that age.
