Default Gender? And what's Wrong?

Hi this is my budgie Fanta..
First I want to confirm it's gender?. Please tell me whether it's male or female?
Second
I have bought Fanta from a pet store 6 months back along with my other budgies. But right from the moment it has been always sick, inactive Fat, and not interested to fly when I leave my budgies for free flying in my room.It is developing something around it's eyes.
I tried some antibiotics which one doctor suggested.plz understand that I don't have proper Vet here to accurately diagnose the problem. Fanta always was very Fat when compared with my other budgies. It eats more naturally. I am uploading some pic of my Fanta. kindly tell me it's gender and what might be wrong with him .

There appears to be something on Fanta's underside, I suspect it's the vent area?

I'm unsure what could be wrong with Fanta, but hopefully, someone else might be able to help you. Are you at least able to put Fanta in its own cage?
It might be best for Fanta and your other birds.

Do you have any vet close to you and have you asked if they have the ability to find out more about birds so that you can take your birds to them? Relying on the forum for so much medical care is not really a great long-term plan. Being pro-active with a vet who can try and find out answers you would be more helpful.

Is it just the photo, or does the beak seem exceptionally long?

I agree with Therm, I also seem to see something around the vent area, are there loose droppings stuck to the feathers in that area? I also see something discoloring some feathers around the face, has your bird been vomiting or is this a result of Fanta trying to clean a soiled vent? What are you feeding him and how much? Without taking the bird to a vet you will not know for sure what is wrong.

Fanta is extremely overweight.

My guess is that Fanta has been on an all-seed diet and in addition to being obese, is suffering from fatty-liver disease (which would also explain the overgrown beak).

However, I am not a qualified Avian Vet.

While it is very challenging for people who live in countries with no Avian Vets, there are steps you can take to help ensure your budgies' health.

With the right motivation, you can work with a regular or veterinarian to get the proper care for your budgie(s).

You will want to do as much research as you can and learn as much about budgies and the best practices for their care so you can provide your little ones with the best possible life.
Start off by reading all the information in the stickies throughout the forum as well as the Budgie Articles.

We have a member in India who has done this and has developed a great relationship with a regular vet.
With the member's research and the vet's collaboration, they have found ways of providing care for her budgie that she would have not been able to manage otherwise.

When you develop a good relationship with a regular veterinarian, that individual can collaborate via telephone or Skype with Avian Veterinarians in other countries if necessary to get assistance in appropriate diagnosing and prescribing treatment for your Avian companions.

You are going to need to be pro-active in finding ways to care for your budgies. You may wish to consider using on-line vet services if you are uncomfortable with the suggestions given above.

You've been given great advice.

I would say that Fanta is male. He's very cute but also is definitely sick. I agree that fatty liver disease could be a factor.

His messy droppings are not a good sign, and it does look as if his face is pretty sticky.

You definitely need to find an on-line vet resource or call a university or another establishment which may have some bird experience if you can.

I hope that you're able to find a solution to this

Thanks every one for the advice.I am surprised to know that Fanta is a male.I think that is the reason some of my male budgies are fighting with Fanta.
Yes Fana's droppings are sticking to the vent. That is the reason you are looking something near its vent. The reason for this is it has lost its tail feather recently .so it has nothing like a tail now so its unable to lift it when dropping. I agree with CODY as I also think Fanta is trying to clean its vent and that can be reason for discoloring.

Fanta eats everything not just seed.It eats sweet corn, spinach, coriander leaves, cuttlebone as much as possible, carrot also. But then problem is it eats very much.I guess it eats 3* times when compared to my other budgie.
I am keeping Fanta with my other birds so that it doesnt feel stressed.it is very inactive and unable to fly anywhere.
I am surprised when you are telling it has an over grown beak.I never thought it has over grown beak.I am thinking it has a short beak when compared to my other budgies. All my other budgies have atleast some large beak than fanta. Now i am worried whether my remaining budgies are normal or not.All are active and very healthy.

Regarding vet service,It unfortunate to admit that Vet service is non existent here.I do not have anyone who can see birds and accurately diagnose.can any one tell me how to proceed .Present i am using SCATT and applying on its skin as i thought that it has air sack mites.
Thanks for the support

In my opinion, you need to remove Fanta into his own cage.

It's a sick bird and also you have just stated he is getting picked n by the other birds.
Also, if you are overfeeding (and he won't overeat if *you* don't overfeed) it'll be easier to control being in it's own cage. The level of stress when first moved will be greatly reduced when Fanta is not bullied daily and is on a healthier diet.

Have you tried to clean Fanta's vent yourself? It looks to be very badly dirtied. Gently holding him and wiping away as much of the build-up as possible with warm water will be more helpful than doing nothing. I don't believe that the loss of tail feathers should make such a difference to his droppings, especially to that degree.

As for what to do next we have all stated YOU need to work to find an online vet if looking for a regular vet isn't an option for you to take.

We simply cannot provide the answers you need.
None of us are trained as vets and can not give you the correct advice.

It is up to you to provide the next piece of care for Fanta by being proactive.
Asking us repeatedly what to do is not being proactive enough.

Thanks therm
I ll try to find an online vet
Yes I have gently wiped the droppings and cleaning it sometimes. I ll put it in another cage and reduce the food it eats to some extent and observe any difference.

Fanta should be given no more than 2 teaspoons of a high quality seed mix per day, along with plenty of healthy vegetables.

Sweet corn is high in sugar and you'd be better off substituting green leafy vegetables such as:
kale
chard
collard greens
fresh beet greens
fresh mustard greens
fresh turnip greens
endive
romaine
watercress
fresh sprouts
Leafy green vegetables are not high in calories.
Fanta should be able to eat as much varied leafy green vegetables as he likes with no detrimental effect.
Keep in mind that too much spinach and parsley inhibit calcium absorption, so those should only be given in moderation.

Have you done searches for veterinarians in your area?
I don't know where in India you are, but there are definitely veterinarians you could contact and work with in the New Dehli area.
