Default Tail Bobbing?

Ahhh Iím currently quite nervous for my white and grey budgie, Four. Four is a bit over two years old and has maintained a diet of multi-nutritional seeds throughout her life. Occasionally, she will peck at offered broccoli and other veggies, but absolutely hates fruit, and will throw it everywhere her little bird beak can reach. Iíve never taken the time to check for tail bobbing until today, and to my saddened surprise, I noticed her tail was bobbing to a more exaggerated extend than her partnerís tail (Claire). I would like some feedback before considering a trip to the avian vet, so could I please receive some opinions on wether or not this is tail bobbing? She was resting as a took this video, and the bobbing seems consistent.

Thank you in advance.

Hi! to Talk Budgies

While Four's tail is bobbing, the bobbing does not appear to be as pronounced as it would be in an extremely ill budgie.

Are you able to hold her?
When you hold her close to your ear do you hear any clicking sounds as she breathes?
Does she pant or seem to have labored breathing after exercise?

To be on the safe-side, it would be best for you to take Four to an Avian Vet for the proper diagnosis and treatment plan should one be required.

Hi there and to the forums!

I agree that Four's tail bobbing doesn't look too concerning. If you didn't observe this slight increase after a period of exertion, like after flying, or while she was chirping or excited, it's best to take her in to the vet to get a clean bill of health. It's always better to be safe than sorry!

You've come to a great place to learn even more about budgies! Be sure to read through the forums as there are hundreds of useful articles and "stickies" which will help you stay updated on the very best of budgie care practices!

If you have any questions after reading through everything, be sure to ask!

We look forward to seeing you and your little budgie around the forums!

Cheers
