Default Luck is not on my side

Hello everyone, today I have sad news, I brought my 2 budgie to the vet, both 3 and a half months old and they both have megabacteria... I've had them for 2 weeks only and hearing that destroyed me... Luckily I brought them to the vet asap therefore with meds and a lot of special care they should be fine. The budgies are Meep (green) and Blooper (blue). Hopefully everything goes well.

Sorry to hear that your birds have AGY (megabacteria), but it is good that they are now under treatment. This is a good example of why it is important to have an initial check up with the vet when first getting a new bird. The vet can test for things that cannot be seen with the naked eye and begin treatment of anything that is out of the norm before it gets out of hand. Since you have not had your birds for too long you may want to inform the person or place where you got them, as they may have been harboring the illness when you got them and if they were housed with other birds that were sold it would be good if the other owners could be informed so they could also have their birds tested.

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear of the diagnosis. It’s good that you brought your budgie in to the vet, and you received the meds. Crossing fingers that you’ll start having better luck, and that you will be successfully managing the condition.

Cody has some good advice above. I also would inform the person you bought the birds from.

I'm so sorry your little ones are unwell. Like the others have said, it's great that you took them to the vet and this was discovered. Sending prayers and positive vibes for a quick, stress free recovery.

I'm sorry to hear your budgies are suffering from AGY. It's good you got an early diagnosis for them so you can manage the problem.

There is a good deal of helpful information regarding AGY/Megabacteria in our Budgie Article section that you will want to review.
