Your budgies got a bad case of scaly face mites.
However, this is easily treated.

If your not comfortable treating it yourself, go to an avian vet for treatment.

If you are comfortable you need a product like this:
https://www.ladygouldianfinch.com/product_scatt.php

All birds in that environment should be treated, whether they are showing signs of infection or not.
The cage and accessories should also be thoroughly cleaned.

Although it looks horrible, following the treatment steps above is very effective and your budgie will be absolutely fine in no time.

Hi there and to the forums!

You've been given great advice. Your little girl has scaley face mites, which are easily treatable. Be sure to get the ivermectin as soon as you can, either through a vet or, as mentioned, you can order it online.

Meanwhile, you've come to the best place to learn even more about the best practices for budgie care! If you have any questions after reading through the forum's many resources, please be sure to ask as we'd love to help.

Hope to see you around, please keep us updated on how your budgie is doing!

Cheers

Hi! to Talk Budgies

Therm has given you excellent advice.
Please make sure you purchase a spot-on treatment as described and don't get any sprays such as those pet-shops may recommend.
Since the case of mites your budgie has is so advanced, chances are it will need more than one treatment to eradicate all of the mites.
The entire cage, perches, toys, dishes, and everywhere the budgie has access to will need to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected as well.

Please take the time to read through the Site Guidelines, all of the How To Guides, the FAQs, the Budgie Articles and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.

Truly, the very BEST advice anyone can offer you is to take the time to read ALL of the stickies throughout the various Talk Budgie forums as well as the Budgie Articles we have posted.

These are great resources for Talk Budgie members and have a wealth of reliable information which will assist you to learn the best practices in caring for your budgies for their optimal health and well-being.
