Default He has cancer in lungs, cyst in kidney

My Cikos is 1 year old. He is probably smartest bird i've ever seen.

He had bacteria and mushroom. We cleaned them with taking him to a vet and with drugs. We thought he was ok again, he was talking all day long. Suddenly he couldn't swallow his food or anything we gave to him. This has never happened before. He is trying too hard to eat, even at night lights off, he is eating. Also he can't poop easily. So we took Cikos to a vet that is 500km away. He is one of the only two avian vets in turkey. But he said, one of the lungs is gone because of cancer, cyst in the kidney and cyst in the neck. How can one year old bird has cancer. We take care of him amazingly. Vet says there is nothing to be done.

Medical sector is really that bad still in 2018? Can't we do anything? Isn't there any kind of medicine?

Update : I was at work, my mum took him to vet. He also wanted us to order:

Philips UV 150 Watt
Origanum Vulgare L. Oil. Is this this? https://www.hepsiburada.com/sepe-nat...-HBV000002KOUF or this https://www.hepsiburada.com/kekik-ka...-HBV000002E40D
Healthy Kidneys : is this ? https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Kidne.../dp/B01B1WZWN0

So sorry to hear of your birds illness. Unfortunately budgies do have a high rate of various cancers mostly due to genetics and not to their environment. How was it determined that there is cancer in the lung? Sometimes cysts can be drained but if the vet thought that was an option I assume he would have mentioned it to you.

Good post above from Cody. As she said, a lot of the serious illnesses in budgies is out of our control. It’s mainly the result of many people over many years breeding an extremely prolific species without any regard to proven genetic health of the parents. Captive bred budgies (not talking about wild) are just not the healthiest of species. We just do the best we can for our birds under our care, and hope that they are long lived and healthy.

I’m so sorry to hear of the condition your budgie is in. I assume that if the avian vet thought there was a cure, he’d have prescribed it. Keep him free of drafts or temperature extremes, he might also find comfort in a cloth draped over part of the cage for a sense of security. I wish you all the best. I know what you’re going through is terribly hard.

Yes it can be, because we take care of him amazingly. I wasn't there if vet said he needed surgery, my mum and dad was there, but we can not let him do surgery, because there is no warranty that he will make it alive.

If the vet told you to order it, then I’d do that right away. Best wishes for Cikos!

Very urgent. We have given him origanium vulgare oil. And he suddenly he went into shock. He couldn't walk for 1 hour, his feet were useless for 1 hour. Now he is getting better, but he hasn't swallowed that vulgare oil. It smells disgusting. He is still trying very hard. What can we do to make him swallow. Very urgent please someone help. Vet says he doesn't work on Sunday.

I’m sorry we didn’t see this post.. how are things today?

To get a bird to swallow, it is best to first hold the bird so that it’s head is steady. With a small dropper or syringe (without the needle), drip one drop at a time into the corner area of the bird’s mouth. Gently tap the beak. This should get the bird to swallow. You can assure they’re swallowing if you see the tongue moving as if the bird is drinking.

A tip for budgies, is to first smooth the feathers away which are around the beak. A little water will work well.

I hope this advice doesn’t come too late. Crossing fingers your little one will feel better soon.

Iím so very sorry to hear that your little friend didnít make it. You did all you could for him and he fought hard. He is now free from pain, flying high over Rainbow Bridge. He will always be in your heart and I believe he is watching over you. Thinking of you at this very difficult time and sending you lots of love.

RIP sweet Cikos.

I'm so very sorry for your loss of little
«ikos.

If you wish, you can make a thread in the "In Memory" Section of the forum about your happy memories of him or a tribute to his life.
It is because of Love we Grieve
And because of Love we are comforted in our time of Sorrow.

May time bring you peace and the joy of the many happy memories you shared with
«ikos
Fly high and soar freely dear «ikos; rest peacefully now little one.
