Default Bumblefoot

Hi, my budgie Toby is 11 years old. He has bumblefoot, he finds it hard to stand and often falls of his perch these last few weeks. I can't take him to the vet, it will frighten him too much. How long is he likely to carry on like this? I hve made him a platform so he doesnt have to much of a drop etc its just horrible seeing him like this.

If your budgie has bumblefoot to that degree he is in very bad shape and needs treatment. How long has had problems?
I'd suggest you call your Avian Vet and ask for assistance. If you don't believe Toby can make the trip, perhaps the vet can advise some steps you can take at home to make him more comfortable.
In the meantime, you need to set up his cage with platform perches and ensure his food and water are easily accessible for him.

Iím sorry your precious boy isnít doing well. I agree with FaeryBee, he needs treatment. I would also add padding to the bottom of his cage so that if he does fall, heís not landing on a hard surface.

If going to the vet is not his thing, do you live in an area that also has mobile vets? Some of them are good vets and it is easier on the bird and also you to have them come to your home to check his bubblefoot out. He really needs help with this and a vet would tell you the best you could do to help him I also go to vets office as needed. Emergency places for pets may also be of help to your bird and his foot problem. He really needs help with this.
