Question stomachache?

Hey there budgie owners.

I have a female budgie that recently had a stuck egg and was in pain, after a while she layed it and I was finally able to let the vet see her, however once they brought her home to me she was staying at the bottom of the cage. vet says she has a stomachache of some sort and gave me some water solutions, (florfenicol drops and aminovit drops).

I'm questioning his diagnoses because vets here receive bad reviews, what leads budgies to not be able to move and stay at the bottom all day? she tries to climb but I noticed that she can't use her feet, could it be because lack of calcium? or is it something else?

Also are these drops safe for all budgies (healthy or not)? because they'll be drinking water together.

- Sorry for the bad pic -

- The drops -

Sorry your bird is ill. How long has the bird been home and at the cage bottom? Usually when a bird is at the bottom of the cage it is a sign that it is feeling quite unwell. However, in your case, since you have indicated that she cannot use her feet it may be due to that. My first thought is that perhaps there is something internal pressing on the nerves to the feet making it difficult for her to use them, has she had this happen before? If she is prone to being egg bound and if there is another egg inside that could be part of the problem, is she eating and drinking? Since she is unable to climb make sure you have food and water at a level she can reach. I am not familiar with the products you have posted but one looks to be a vitamin supplement and the other some type of antibiotic. What do you feed her?

Hey Cody, thank you for replying

This's the second day since her return, she eats and drinks well, I kept her mate with her and he has been taking care of her, but I do keep food and water nearby for her, she's acting normally tho.

Nothing like this has happened to her before, but in the past I had a budgie that got in the same position due to lack of calcium and that's why I assumed it might be the case.

I feed her veggies and seeds, she like cucumber and carrots, however, I may recently neglected good dieting and focused on seeds more. I'm very sad to know you haven't heard of these drops, I really want to be sure I could give these to my budgies.

Good nutrition is very important for your budgies' health. Try to feed a variety of vegetables as well as seed.

I agree with Cody that one of the boxes is a type of vitamin and the other is an antibiotic.
Is there another vet you can contact for a second opinion?

Hey Faery,

I started giving a better diet, she eats and drinks okay, but still not much strength in her feet, her wings and peak support her when she tries to climb up the cage but she loses balance due to her feet.

Sadly no vet is possible to contact, plus where I am there's a full lock down so I can't do much. I'm still not so sure about the drops. I did a bit of research to see if people use it okay and found some that do.
