Default Clear coat water-based sealer for a toy

hello budgie lovers!

I recently made my budgies a new toy. It's a paper-mache hut made from bird safe paper and flour and water as the "glue". I was wanting to make this waterproof so it doesn't fall apart when I clean it....I have been reading that their aren't any safe waterproof sealers for birds but then again I read that their are. Are their any safe clear coat, water-based sealers that I can use without harming my birds?

To be honest, I wouldn't put that in a budgie cage at all The thing is, you should never put any huts or hollow objects large enough for a budgie to fit into, as males and females alike can get broody and aggressive, and females may be triggered into laying eggs!

It's a cool idea, and I'm glad that you used budgie-safe materials, but it isn't a recommended thing to place in a budgie cage.

I agree with Star completely and am glad you will be making other suitable toys instead.

Also, remember it is not a good idea to give your budgies any type of hut.
Budgies perch and do not need places to hide or huts to sleep in.
Things of that nature trigger breeding instincts.

I'm closing the thread.
