Default Home made apple wood perches

My last thread seemed to get lost when the forum had some work done on it so i thought I would remake my thread as I made a few more perches since then.

All the perches are made from apple wood mainly because its the easiest wood to recognise thanks to the big apples hanging off the branches in summer, dont want to hurt my little birdy! It also means they are incredibly strong, the larger perches have 12 rings meaning they took 12 years to grow to that size, such a heavy strong wood, makes it difficult for my little budgie to destroy them!

Those are great. How do you anchor the bolt in the wood? glue or some kind of hardware?
I've been wanting to make a platform perch but am unsure how to go about attaching the bolt.

I drill a hole using a wood drill bit and then screw one of these in, one half is course threads designed to go into wood leaving the fine thread on the outside where the wing nut can be attached.

Thank you trum, I've not ever seen those before. I'll have to have a look next time I'm at the hardware store.

I dont know what country your in but if you search ebay for "METAL DUAL THREAD DOWEL SCREWS" you will find them, i use M6 size as they are thin enough for perches but large enough to feel nice and sturdy, then i use a 5mm drill bit to make the hole meaning its got 1mm of wood for the threads to bite on, if you need any help don't be afraid to ask!

I love the perches you've created!
(Since your previous thread got lost, so did my initial reply! )

Thanks! Its weird how the thread disappeared, not 100% sure what happened.

Im thinking about maybe attempting to sell some of my perches, i just need to gauge interest and figure out if anyone would want them, i make them as its sort of therapeutic to me so if i was able to maybe sell a few it would be rather helpful.

These perches are great and I'd be interested to purchase some.
As for selling them you could start off with Facebook or Etsy and try and try and work up to maybe your own website.

Your thread disappeared when the forum was migrated over to a new server:

Therm has given you good advice with regard to working through Etsy or Ebay for selling them.

Good luck!
