Default Pellets and sprouts and fruit and veg

I thought I would get Sunny Jim and Louis some pellets to have as well as their seed so I bought some Harrison's High Potency fine pellets. They have not touched them - I thought they may be a bit big so I crushed them up a bit and mixed some seed in with them. They haven't eaten any - the amount weighs the same as when I put it in!

I need some tips please - they are too expensive to waste.

I am happy with the seed they have - I tried growing some sprouts and the germination rate was good, so I shall do this again. Should they have sprouts every day?

Louis hasn't touched any fruit or veg - and Sunny Jim doesn't try much on his own - Jasper was good and Sunny Jim copied him.

If you want your budgies to eat pellets exclusively (or with seeds as just a treat), then you can try the following schedule to switch them over. It repeats every 4 days.

Days 1-3: You give them seeds for about an hour in the morning and in the evening, but the rest of the time, you only offer them pellets.
Day 4: You give them seeds the whole day, particularly if you see that they aren't eating much of the pellets.

If you only want them to eat pellets as an accompaniment to seeds, then you can put them in egg food or bake birdie bread with the seeds. Here is a recipe: https://talkbudgies.com/recipes/20347...ird-bread.html

Good luck
