Default Budgie got Baytril in his eye :(

I feel terrible. I was just giving my budgie, Bobby, his Baytril dose and he swung his head around and got it in his eye. It was obviously irritated at that moment but it's hard to tell now. The feathers around his eye seem gunked up with the stuff though.

What should I do? Is he going be OK?

Do you have sterile saline solution?
If so, rinse his eye with that then put a little on a soft cloth and gently clean the feathers around his eye as well.

If not, use regular water but be sure to get saline solution to keep in your budgie's first aid kit for the future.

Thanks so much for your reply.

No saline solution (on it!) but I think I've sorted it with water. He seemed to be more irritated by the feathers sticking around his eye and they look more normal now after a heavy spray and a gentle wipe. He doesn't seem to be scratching there any more than usual, now.

Thanks again.

I'm very glad to hear he's doing better.
Now that you have that sorted out...
Welcome to Talk Budgies!
