Default Emergency - budgie not passing stools

Right., I've been on the phone with the vet and they recommended massaging the abdomen and giving fluids to gush his system though a syringe both of which I have done. There's nothing.

It is late at night here and he's usually asleep by now. He's still eating small amounts. I have been told I can get him in with a general vet tomorrow morning and that we can try a form of laxative treatment then, but there's no out of hours vets in my town, most they can do is an over the phone service.

Phoenix is 4 years old and hasn't passed anything more than fluid in 5 hours. I dont know when he last passed a stool other than that he has only passed around 20 in the last twenty four hours. Any help would be greatly appreciated if you can advise any more home treatments.

I don't drive so I can't get him to an out of town vet either.

(He is the budgie that was passing blood last week)

I'm so sorry poor little Phoenix is going through this.
I'm sure he must be suffering.

I don't know of anything else you can do other than give him millet spray soaked in electrolyte solution and keep him warm until you can get him to the vet tomorrow morning.

Lots of healing energy, positive thoughts and prayers for Phoenix.

Would maybe a steamy room help? I know that helps with egg binding, but it also helps with dehydration. If there is something more happening, it will also help to relax the muscles and allow something (hopefully) to pass).

The fact that he's still eating is a good sign though. Is he drinking? Poor baby. I'm sorry, but I didn't see the other thread so I don't know all of the details.

Positive thoughts from me, though!

Try to get him to eat green foods, water as often as possible is his vent pasted or is it looking normal? He really needs expert treatment and examination by an avian vet. He can not continue to eat if he doesn't go soon.

Default Update

He is very poorly at the moment and sleeping a lot. I took him to am emergency vet and they couldn't do anything for him. He has an appointment with an avian vet this afternoon in 4 hours.

He has apple and this seed/dried fruit mix in his cage. He's currently sat on my head sleeping. Hopefully the vet appointment will help.

Out of curiosity what do you believe it is? I understand you're not vets but I want to prepare myself for the worst.

Antibiotics stopped him passing blood so could it be that it's not a tumour and just an infection?

Here is a recipe for homemade “pedialyte’

˝ cup hot water
3 ˝ cups water
2 Tablespoons honey (or sugar if you have no honey)
˝ teaspoon salt
Optional: 2 Tablespoons Orange or Apple Juice

Mix the honey and salt with the hot water until dissolved
Add the room temperature water and juice and let cool to room temperature before using.
