Default Violent "regurgitating" motion

This problem concerns Lucky, my 14 year old budgie, who the vet suspects has kidney and liver problems. We visited the vet around May 27, 2015. She said that if he does have liver and kidney issues, there wouldn't be much she could do for him. (Sadly, we don't have many options for avian vets in this area.) I gave him milk thistle/dandelion in his water, and fed him bok choy, dandelion greens, Pedialyte, and a mix of other things to supplement his diet, and he was doing well for 2 months, and was even more energetic than my 4 year old budgie.

This past week, he has been acting strange again. The droppings became very watery, and some stuck to his vent. He was becoming lethargic. Just today, he has been bobbing his head as if he was trying to regurgitate, but his wings were flapping a bit, and it looked like a violent regurgitation.

Is there any chance that this motion could mean something is stuck in his crop? I know that stuff like cotton and sisal can potentially get knotted up in a bird's crop, but what about things made from palm leaves and paper? The toys currently in the cage are made from those two items.

I moved my birds to a new cage a day ago, but moved them back to the old one because I was worried they weren't eating or drinking, so stress may also be a factor.

I was also hoping to do some sort of aloe detox. I have an aloe plant, but I'm not sure how I should harvest it and feed it to him.

Thanks in advance.

The motion you are describing often happens repeatedly when a budgie has a crop infection.
I'd suggest you take him in to your Avian Vet as soon as possible. If the infection is bacterial, he will prescribe an anitbiotic to fight it.

Good luck and please let us know how Lucky progresses.
Sending lots of healing energy and positive thoughts for your little guy.

Goodness what a delight to have shared 14 years together.
At your budgies age it is quite foreseeable he could be experiencing some age related issues. but from what you have described it does sound like a crop problem, please let us know how things progress with your little one .

I'm hoping the vet clinic can squeeze a spot in tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous about taking Lucky back there again, since the first time we visited, the vet just told me that I could just get another bird because they're cheap. Well, I think she was just trying to comfort me, but that was a bad choice of words.

He got some antibiotics and has his appetite and energy back! Old bird still thinks he's young!
