Follow-up CenterThreads made in the Emergency Room forum will be moved here by staff as a way to follow-up with members after their budgie emergency.
This keeps the E.R. for only the most current emergencies.
Yesterday Spence was having his daily fly when he fell behind the bookshelf. His wing looked a little crooked, but it looks fine now, and he's flying fine. Also, He feels hot (as in, his feet and body), he's shaking a little like he's cold and he's blinking more than usual, and he is reluctant to hop on me and seems a bit jumpy. Please, advice!
Most likely your Spencer is stressed by the earlier accident. It's good that he didn't hurt his wing and he is able to fly. For now, just give him some quiet time to recover from the scary ordeal and cover the cage on 3 sides to make him feel more safe and keep him warm. You can also place a warm water bottle underneath the cage for extra heat (covering half the cage, so he can escape the heat if needed).
The fact that he feels hot to your touch means he is conserving his heat to better cope with the situation he has been in. Make sure he is eating well too, you can soak millet spray on electrolyte solution to give him a little boost.
Right now taking him to a vet will add further stress on him. So just keep on monitoring him and unless you see some signs of illness then take him to the vet's.
Hopefully your Spencer will very soon bounce back from the scary ordeal, I'm wishing your boy a speedy recovery.
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
Thank you all for your concern, and thank you for your advice! The little rockstar is feeling better, and is up to his usual tricks
Thanks aluz, I covered him on 3 sides, and put on the heater, he was feeling much better this morning, his wing seems fine too.
The silly bird has taken to playing possum now....
