Follow-up CenterThreads made in the Emergency Room forum will be moved here by staff as a way to follow-up with members after their budgie emergency.
This keeps the E.R. for only the most current emergencies.
I bought my lutino budgie and another white/blue budgie about 2 months ago. I think he is just a 6 or 7 months old baby as of now. At the beginning, the white budgie had solid black and white poop while my little lutino budgie had watery green poo. However, otherwise he was a perfectly normal, cheerful and active little guy. But over the past few weeks, he had a few gradually unusual behaviors. He started closing his eyes, standing on one foot etc...three day ago, I found him at the bottom of the cage. He was unable to move or fly much. In the past three days, his condition has worsened. He has not been eating, not drinking, not flying or moving. Poor little guy is just sitting in one corner. The whole of yesterday was spent by him closing, opening and closing his eyes.
Today, he is leaning a lot when he sits down and his left foot has completely lost its balance while his beak is turning a darker shade of pink/beige(is this normal??) and his poop is now a creamy white. It breaks my heart to see my little guy so defenceless, suffering and in pain. I just want him back to his cheery birdy self. If I could do anything to remove his pain, I would in a heartbeat! Bringing him to an avian vet is impossible as there are avian vets where I live. All of the vets I have called up have said they only cater consultations to dogs, cats etc...I tried giving birdy, whom I call affectionately as velan, antibiotics diluted in his water but his not even drinking it.
Please offer some advice please, I don't want my budgie to die...his barely a year old and I love him a lot...:/
I'm very sorry that your budgie is not feeling well.
Fresh poops from a budgie should not be solid black in colour. Depending on the cases that can indicate starvation or internal bleeding.

From your description, your little friend really needs emergency medical attention. If there are no avian specialized vets in your area, do you have an exotics vet clinic nearby? Exotics vets will often see birds and have experience with them. Your budgie really needs to be checked in order to be properly diagnosed and treated.
Have you tried feeding him some spray millet? Sick birds usually go for it when all else fails.
If your budgie adamantly refuses to eat, you will also need to get some hand feeding formula, so that he gets some much needed nourishment.
I truly hope you will be able to get your Velan the professional help he needs and I'm sending my best wishes for a steady and full recovery.
Despite the sad circumstances, welcome to the forums.
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
Sorry to hear your little friend is in such dire straights. Aluz has given you great advice, and I agree that immediate veterinary intervention is necessary if your bird is going to survive. Keep us posted and prayer's for your bird's recovery...
He came down from Heaven unto this earth below
He came down from glory and praises untold
He came down to man fashioned in their way
He came down to rescue, He came down to save
Thank you all so much for your kind wishes. I am sorry to say that little Velan passed away today after suffering so much. It broke my heart to see him like that, but I am happy knowing that my little man is flying high in budgie's heaven with other angel birds The quote "if you love someone, set them free" has helped me in grieving. I know that this special being came into my life for a reason and a small he "was", he has taught me what unconditional love is. There will always be a special place in my heart for him, but because I love him, I am setting him free. Rest in peace my dear little Velan. I will always love you.
Btw guys, please do not take your little budgies for granted. Show them your extra love tonight and enjoy every moment with them while they are still here sometimes I look at my budgie's cage and I look at the empty swing that he used to play in. I look at the ladder that he used to climb with enthusiasm or the floor in my house where he used to like walking around...its painful knowing he was okay just a week ago and I can't control my tears knowing he's no more. But I guess everything happens for a reason?
Ps, Velan "used" to look like the yellow bird from the banner from the top left corner of this page...
