Default Splayed leg?

The younger one leans on one side and i noticed he cant use his right leg properly almost dragging it. Idk if he got splayed leg but i tied them both with surgical tape in a parallell way... The chick is 3 weeks old and i dont know how long he/she has to keep it now and if it will be helpful to recover. I kno he still growing and his/her bones too but idk if he has a splayed leg or a broken leg.. If u guys can advice me or give me the link of any useful topic would be nice. Appreciate it. Ty in advance

With the tape on, the chick's legs look normal, so I think it probably is splayed legs. As the chick grows with the tape on it should correct itself. If the tape comes off and the leg is still dragging, it could be a deformity of sorts. It's hard to tell for sure since there's no picture of the chick's leg beforehand.

Anyways, he looks fine now with the tape on--what a cutie!

You have brought the legs to normal position too quickly. It would be best if you read the link and do it as suggested. Carefully removing the tape and let the legs spread back out some and retape. Then move inward at 1/4" increments every 2-3 days to give the leg muscles time to develop. After you get it back slowly to where you have it now it should stay for 2 weeks.

I just seen your second post. Even if it is just the right leg I would think bringing it in as the link suggested would be best but I am not an avian vet or experienced with this. Perhaps some of our other members will know. If you suspect the leg was somehow broken, I would see a good avian vet asap.

I agree with Randy.

If you think there is any chance at all that the leg is broken, it is very important you have the chick seen by an Avian Vet as soon as possible.

Otherwise, the splayed leg correction should progress more slowly as indicated in the link Randy provided.
