Hi, I really hope we can get some advice.
Planning to take Dougie to the vet tomorrow, but hoping for some emergency first aid advice To keep him going till then.
Noticed yesterday that he is unwell. Feathers fluffed up, sleeping, watery green poos. 2 days before that we noticed he looked like he was trying to regurgitate, then 'chewing' for a bit. Five days ago we noticed his head feathers seemed straggly, and I wondered if he had been sick, but he was still chirpy.
I just offered him water from a glass and he eagerly sipped at it, then seemed to have trouble swallowing? He's only 8 months old, and I hope we can get him better. He lives in a cage on his own (plenty of play time out of the cage though), and we haven't given him anything new or different in last week.
Welcome to talk budgies, sorry to hear your bird is ill.
First off, keep him warm. Second, try to get some electrolytes into him to rehydrate what he is losing from the runny pooping. Ideally, if he will eat, soak some millet in pedialyte or some other form of electrolytes and feed him that while putting some organic Apple Cider Vinegar with the "mother" in it, in his drinking water. Getting to the avian vet ASAP is critical. Prayers for your little friend...
