Exclamation budgie's eye is closed , advice please !

hi all , I wanted some advice from those of you that have alot of experience with budgies. My budgie has his left eye closed as of today and his right eye is most normal , he is playing and eating as usual and there seems to be no discharge or anything of that sort.In the past the vet gave me antibiotics to give him in his water and since today is the holiday in my country , most vets are either not in or closed at the moment , so i'm in a bit of a dilemma . I was considering going and getting otc antibiotics but i'm not sure how safe that would be and then there's a chance i could be treating him for the wrong thing. I've also considered maybe its a vitamin deficiency that's causing it , nevertheless can anyone give me any advice as to what i should do , would it be safe to use otc antibiotics? I've also increased the vitamin supplements when i noticed it this morning which seems to have opened the eye a tiny peak , so with that being said i'm assuming that it really is because of vitamin def. but still not sure , open for suggestions. thanks.

Anyone would need pictures to be able to say anything. Sounds like normal to me. My budgies close one eye all the time and watch me with the other. But it's not a permanent thing.

Please do not give him OTC antibiotics.

I would also not increase the amount of vitamins as that can cause problems if you overdose on certain ones.

The best thing to do is to simply rinse his eye out with a sterile saline solution which you can obtain at the pharmacy. Rinse his eye a couple of times a day. He may simply have a speck of something in it that will clear up after being rinsed.
When the Avian Vet reopens, you can take your little fellow in for a check-up.

Sending lots of positive thoughts for your budgie.
Please give us an update in this thread to let us know how he's doing.

Best wishes!

I agree with Deborah, since he seems to be eating and otherwise fine I would wait for vet visit...keep us posted on developments...
