Default my budgies wing

Hi sorry new to this....I have an extremely untame budgie that I love a lot and have been trying everything with to get him tame....I clipped his wings which where done as directed and I let him out today and he still flew around a bit and was coming out of his shell a bit....I put him back in his cage then and now he is sitting holding one wing up slightly?? Any ideas why? Could he of hurt himself? Thanks in advance

Hi and to Talk Budgies!

Please post a clear, in-focus picture of your budgie showing what you mean about how he's currently holding his wing. It's possible he strained it a bit if he isn't used to flying but no one is going to be able to give you a definitive answer.

When you upload pictures as thumbnail attachments directly from your computer, tablet or phone, the forum automatically defaults to landscape.

To upload full-sized pictures with the proper orientation, please use a photo-sharing service such as PhotoBucket and follow the steps in these instructions:

By the way, all photos entered in any of our forum contests must be a full-size photo and not a thumbnail attachment so it's good to know how to upload them!

To familiarize yourself with the forums, please take the time to read through all of the How To Guides, the FAQs and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.
You'll find most of your basic questions are answered after you've read through all of them.

No need for the when you post.
We're happy to help.

Are you able to simply "attach" a thumbnail picture of Charlie using your phone?
Click on "Go Advanced"
Click on "Manage Attachments"
Then you'll see the screen where you can choose the picture from your phone and attach it that way.

If you aren't able to do that, just keep an eye on him.
I'm sure his wing will be just fine.

Welcome to talk budgies. With his wings clipped, he had to exert himself much more to stay in flight, and may have strained or overexerted. As Deborah said, keep an eye on it...

All of my budgies have this reaction when they are freshly clipped. It's them saying , "where'd my wing go? " they get over it pretty fast the constant preening is also pretty normal on a fresh clip.

Hi there and to the forums!

I agree with J.W--often times, newly clipped budgies have to get used to their new wings.

I'm sure he'll get used to it soon If after a few days he's still clearly in discomfort, it's best to take him to a qualified avian vet for a checkup.

We hope to meet your little fellow soon and it's great you've decided to join us! There are tons of articles and informative posts on the forums that can help you to care for your budgie. Remember to ask questions if you still have them after you read through the links provided by Deborah!

We hope to see you and Charlie around the forums!
