Hi Sameeh,

I'm very sorry your little Susu is not feeling well.
As a general rule, it's not advisable to give medicine/antibiotics when we don't know which illness our birds have.

Did you just see the change in Susu today? Did he managed to eat something today?
How is Susu's breathing, do you notice a prominent tail bob? Does he sneeze and do you see any discharge coming from the cere?
Do Susu's poops look normal in colour, shape and consistency?

For now you can cover the cage on 3 sides to keep him warm and you can offer him some spray millet soaked in electrolyte solution, this will hopefully give him a boost of energy.
Here is a link that can be helpful:
https://talkbudgies.com/your-budgies-...te-recipe.html

If you really aren't able to consult with an avian specialist vet, then you can try to get advice from one online. You will have to be able to describe all symptoms for a better diagnosis and treatment plan.

I'm moving your thread to the Emergency Room section of Talk Budgies.

Ana has given you excellent guidance. Do you have a first aid kit for budgies.
We keep Electrolyte, probiotics and millet spray. wait a day or 2 then add antibiotic if budgie does not improve. Just like with people we tend to throw antibiotic at our birds at the drop of a hat. In our aviary we have a process to follow to evaluate sick bird. We start by support for the immune system with electrolyte and probiotics and encouraging the bird to eat millet spray. A sick bird will loose weight rapidly and become chilled and may shiver. His little engine needs repair. We suggest that you keep a record of weight on each bird and respond as soon as you see a marked change up or down. Loosing 3 or 4 grams can endanger an already thin budgie. We do weekly AM checks to look for any issues. We like to use the natural immune system support before we use meds because meds eliminate all of the good bacteria the budgies needs for proper digestion and absorption of food, So now the bird has lost its own natural defense and becomes dependent on antibiotics. If a bird is acute see the vet ASAP, While waiting for vet apt start the electrolyte/ probiotics. We like millet spray because we can see in real time if and how much budgie is eating. A very sick bird gets a drop directly in beak and wait 15 to 30 minutes to see if it starts to eat. This little nudge provides support . It is hard to tell about your bird. Droppings and weight change are key clues . This is not a time to worry but a time to provide warmeth and nutrient support. Worry makes us less alert to subtle signs. I like to go to TB sticky / articles and run down the list to remind myself of possible clues to the illness . I would give your bird a few hours to use the electrolyte /probiotic before giving the antibiotic. If the bird appears a little off but stable and not acute , hold the meds and observe. The chance that the meds are to treat the wrong micro organism are very real. For example fungal vs bacterial or viral. some times bacteria and fungus team up at the same time. This is why we urge you to get the wisdom and guidance of a vet. Lab tests can help ID the problem and save time , money and undo stress on the bird. By immediately grabbing the antibiotic you can make an illness worse. Please use your energy to really find a vet and follow the guidance provided. You can talk to vets on line. We like ladygouldianfinch.com because there is a vet available through them. Always remember a vet diagnosis is the best safety net for your bird. Best wishes, Jo Ann

The problem is that I live in Lebanon and nobody care about birds or parakeets plus i searched for spray millet everywhere and i couldnt find :/ I only have millet grains and thats what i provide for them everyday in addition to fresh vegetables. The place where i bought the budgies only sell birds, this idiot knows nothing ! I am gonna wait for tomorrow if there is no change i will start the antibiotic. By know i covered three sides of the cage to keep it warm. Thank you a lot

I'm very sorry to hear little Susu is so ill and there is little veterinary help in your country.

Do you know a "regular" vet that you could contact who would be willing to work with you?
Using the articles and information in the forum, a regular vet who is interested and willing may be able to provide assistance.

If not, consider contacting an on-line Avian veterinary service.
Through discussion and pictures they may be able to guide you in caring for Susu during this trying time.

You may also try making contact with this establishment for assistance:
