Default Berry's Wing?

I am very worried about his wing. He has been holding it like that for the past few days without change. It looks like he maybe did something to it. Do you think I should take him to a vet? It looks like it hurts...

Here is a video I took of it.

Do you know if your budgie had a crash landing while having out of cage flight time or was there any night fright event on the past few days?

Since your Berry has been holding his wing on that fashion for a few days and you haven't noticed an improvement in his condition, then it would be best to have him seen by an avian vet.

I'm wishing your Berry a steady and full recovery!

Jonah,

I definitely think it would be worth having Berry's wing examined by an Avian Vet.

Avian Vets have special training to determine the cause of symptoms resulting from illness or trauma. This is important as "regular" vets will often overlook symptoms that are quickly obvious to an Avian Vet.
When you rely on anyone who has not had training in Avian diagnosis and care, you may be delaying effective treatment. This can prolong suffering that may be avoidable.
The bird will often require a more intense, prolonged treatment with a poorer chance of full recovery than it would have if you seek prompt professional diagnosis and treatment at the first sign of illness.

Distinction between an Avian Vet and a Vet that "Will See Birds"

Please be sure to update us on his condition in this thread.

Wishing little Berry a full and speedy recovery!

Thank you very much
I have noticed sometimes that him and Pippen may accidentally scare one another in the middle of the night or get frightened by a noise. There is a high probability this happened and he ran into something.
I am contacting a privately owned bird specialist store I have noticed for the past few years and am going to ask which local avian veterinarian they would recommend. I will keep you all posted

Thank you for your prayers and support I really appreciate it

Jonah, I do hope sweet little Berry is feeling better soon and you find out what is wrong.
Night frights can be very serious if they are experiencing them regularly it might be wise to cover the cage, have a night light near by so there is enough light for them to be able to manoeuvre.
Remove any dangerous obstacles from the cage that could cause injury. Some toys can be like a trap and a frightened budgie can become tangled and really damage itself or sadly die.
Night frights can be from car lights, insects or spiders, a sudden noise . Examine the area where the cage is during the night. Perhaps leaving a quiet background noise on would help. Please let us know how Berry is ?

I took Berry to a vet yesterday; they were very open and helpful. My fears were confirmed; Berry has a fractured wing, and It scared me to death when the doctor mentioned several times how concerned he was about his breathing patterns. I think the wing hurt so bad poor Berry was having trouble breathing

If it isn't that, then it means it is something else and could be very serious. I got some pain medication that I am to administer, and decided not to get a splint because of how
he would respond to it. If he would lets say, constantly peck at it then he could move it out of place and make it even more worse. Without the splint, it takes about 5-6 weeks to heal.

I have to figure out how to get another cage, because Pippen being completely healthy (what the vet said), might pick on him, because they can tell when each other is sick. I simplified their cage and brought their perches down; without this he could fall.

I continue to thank you all for the support as I am trying hard to heal poor Berry. Thank you all very much

I'm so glad to hear you were able to take him to the vet and I'm so sorry that his wing is fractured He must have been so uncomfortable! I'm sure he'll feel much better now that he's on his medications and he hopefully will heal soon, and quickly. It's a good idea to put a towel at the bottom of his cage, too, so if he falls, nothing gets worse.

Get well soon, little Berry!

I'm glad you now have medication for Berry and I'm wishing him a full and speedy recovery. I'm sure having him in a separate cage than Pippin is for the best and hope you are able to get one soon.

I'm moving your thread over to the Follow-up section of the forum now.

We'll be looking forward to your updates about Berry to be posted in this thread.
