Hello, I am sorry your budgie does not look well to me in that clip. the movements are how they act when trying to vomit. Your budgie is also looking tired. Do you have access to an avian vet? What are your budgies droppings like, greenish, watery? is the bird eating or drinking more than usual. the crop does not seem to be bloated at all to me. Keep the cage covered with a blanket, make an appointment to have the budgie checked. I am moving this thread to the emergency section.

Edit : I have also flagged your thread for our experts to see this and come on board .

Hi there,

I'm very sorry your Maia's symptoms have gone worse. I agree that she needs to be seen by an avian vet specialist. From the video it's clear she's in distress and she really needs to be properly checked and diagnosed for her condition.
Due to her ongoing issues in swallowing and not retaining the occasional seeds, it's possible that Maia has some kind of crop infection and this should be addressed as soon as possible.

Alfalfa sprouts aren't harmful for budgies, but during the process it's important to thoroughly wash and rinse the alfalfa in order to avoid the build up of bacteria.

I hope your Maia feels better soon and she has a steady and full recovery.

Thank you all.
The crisis has stopped. I didn't manage to tape the complete situation, but please trust me her crop was inflating like a balloon and she was trying to puke, but nothing come out. She is relaxed now, eating and drinking very good. I removed all veggies for now. She's on spray millet and pedialyte.
Poos are fine now, well formed and clear, but right after the crisis was a lot of urine and urate, a little greenish.
The symptoms started a few minutes after she was eating the Bio alfalfa sprouts I bought from the store. I rinsed very good the sprouts, they were about 2.5-3cm height, no bad smell.
Hope will be OK, the sprouts gone to garbage.

By the end of the video I did see the crop inflation you mentioned.
It would be very helpful to have your Maia's crop fully examined by the vet in order to see if there is some kind of blockage or impaction.
Is Maia able to eat the normal seed mix for budgies or is she only eating millet spray?
If she's having problems with the bigger sized seeds from the budgie seed mix, you can get her a seed mix for finches. This will contain essentially the same seeds only they are smaller in size and should be easier for Maia to try to eat and hopefully digest well.

now she is eating versele laga budgie premium prestige. no problem with bigger size seeds. she is eating very well actually.
we just come from a vet visit. no exotic birds specialist, but with domestic birds background. He is suspecting a yeast, gave some nystatine with fluconazole. Unfortunately the cabinet is not equipped with X-ray. The vet said he will contact some friends with more experience in budgies and will call us back.
i will keep you updated.

Sending lots of healing energy, positive thoughts and prayers for your little girl.

I hope the medication the vet prescribed with take care of the problem.

I'll be looking forward to your next update.

Best wishes for Maia. I hope the meds prescribed are the ones she needs, and she gets well soon. Looking forward to hearing what your vet has to say (more) about Maia after consulting with another vet who might be able to give more info.
