Exclamation Overheating or ill?

Hi guys i have a problem with my budgie i have male and female about 1.5 years old since last night (the male) looks like hes "overheating" and im not sure what to do, he has his wings out and acts like whenever he flies a lot and gets super hot but now hes been doing if for few hours and im not sure if he is ill or what might be the reason really worried about him the room is not cold and my other birds 3 cockatiels and other budgie are just fine

looks like in picture attached, he has his wings out and is really pushing them out as he is shaking sometimes trying to open them even more

any advise on what to do?

Edit: added my birds pictures, he sometimes closes his eyes

Welcome to the forums!

From the photos it does seem that he is overheating. On first photo it seems he is panting and that combined with wings being away from the body are the classical signs when pet birds are very hot and thirsty.
You can place a dripping wet leafy green for him to freshen up, if he wishes to do so. If you notice other changes on your budgie, such as a decrease in energy levels and a decrease in appetite, it would be best to have him seen by an avian vet specialist.

Best of luck with your budgie, I hope he will soon cool down.

Hi! to Talk Budgies

Under the circumstances, it would really be advisable for you to take your little fellow to an Avian Vet for a proper diagnosis.

Avian Vets have special training to determine the cause of symptoms resulting from illness or trauma. This is important as "regular" vets will often overlook symptoms that are quickly obvious to an Avian Vet.
When you rely on anyone who has not had training in Avian diagnosis and care, you may be delaying effective treatment. This can prolong suffering that may be avoidable.
The bird will often require a more intense, prolonged treatment with a poorer chance of full recovery than it would have if you seek prompt professional diagnosis and treatment at the first sign of illness.

Distinction between an Avian Vet and a Vet that "Will See Birds"

I do hope he will be OK and will be looking forward to your update in this thread after his appointment. Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers for your little guy.

Hi there and to the forums!

Your budgies are beautiful!

I'm sorry to hear your little boy is showing signs of overheating. I do agree that it sounds like a problem other than it just being too warm, so I hope you're able to take him to an avian vet soon just to be sure nothing else is wrong!

Please keep us updated on how the vet visit goes!

In the meantime, be sure to check out the informative links provided by Deborah. If you have any questions after reading through everything, be sure to ask as we'd love to help

Hope to see you around and good luck!
