Default Eye problem

Hi all members this is my first post and at the moment I'm at my wits end I have a budgie called Victor he is about 2 years old that talks and very tame in short I love him very much.A week ago I looked at him and noticed his right eye closed and could only see his white eye lid I thought it was strange but thought it would pass so a few days later after work I noticed his eye was shut swollen and discharging so I had to visit an emergency night vet as it was during the weekend and after hours this cost me over 100 but when you love something so much it means nothing ,conclusion was an eye infection and was given Baytril with dosage .2ml in 20 ml of water. After a few days I called my local vet who had a avian specialist visiting so I booked an appointment and said that it might be a sinusitis problem that's blocked or infected and may need a risky operation to clear the channels but gave me Isathal eye drops to be given once a day along with his previous medicine and another appointment next Thursday.Victor is sleeping more than normal with bursts of energy flying onto my shoulder eating lettuce, seed ,and preening himself ,any advice would be great or anyone who has experienced the same bird illness as described ,thanks in advance from Victor and Ian the concerned and worried owner. Welcome to the forums,

I'm very sorry your Victor is sick. Hopefully with the current treatment he will start to feel better and the eye infection is cleared.
While it's good that he has sudden bursts of energy, during this time it's important to at the very least try to confine the area where he has out of cage time in, or even better to keep him on the hospital cage so that he doesn't exert or strain himself too much.
It's extremely important that he preserves his energy during the recovery process.
You can also keep him extra warm by covering the cage on 3 sides with a light blanket. If need be, you can place a heating pad or hot water bottle underneath the cage's bottom.
Supplementing Victor's diet with egg food can also prove quite useful at this time.
Continue to keep a close eye on Victor, if you notice a change on him and he seems to be struggling more, then you may have to call back the vet's office and book an appointment much sooner than the one you have scheduled.

I hope Victor feels better soon and I'm wishing him a steady and full recovery.

Hi! to Talk Budgies

I'm so sorry Victor is suffering right now.
aluz has given you exceptional advice.
I would also suggest you use a warm mist humidifier in the room with Victor. Put a drop of 100% pure eucalyptus essential oil in the water. You can also place his cage in the bathroom and run the shower with hot water to get the room warm and steamy and/or tent his cage with a sheet and place a kettle or pan of boiling water outside the cage but under the tent to create a little steam-room for him.

Keeping him quite while he is recovering is important as is watching to see if he is going to need to go back to the avian Vet prior to the next scheduled appointment.
