Follow-up CenterThreads made in the Emergency Room forum will be moved here by staff as a way to follow-up with members after their budgie emergency.
This keeps the E.R. for only the most current emergencies.
For about an hour Jakob has been off. She's rubbing her beak all the time and seeds come flying out. She had gone to bed but didn't settle. I took her out of the cage. She seems scared. One or two seeds coming out at a time. It's evening, so cant get an avian vet at this hour. What do I do?
Thank you so much for the quick response last night. I spoke to my vet this morning when they opened. We have agreed I'll keep a close eye on Jakob for today, and if there's anything at all, then they'll see her straight away. She's eaten well this morning and not been throwing up. She's playful and singing along. She'll be seen anyway on Tuesday (a check-up before staying with the vet for a one-week holiday). The long car journey might stress her, and I can obviously understand that, but if she gets sick again I still think that's best. Thankfully I'm working from home today, so I won't let her out of my sight.
Just wanted to say that Jakob is doing just fine now. I have no idea what caused her to get so sick on Tuesday, but there has been nothing since and she's very actively playing. She'll be seen by her vet on Tuesday no matter what, as that's scheduled already. Thanks for responding to me so quickly. It was scary to see her so sick. She wasn't such a big girl that night and only wanted to sit with "mummy".
Thanks so much for the update.
I'm really pleased to hear Jakob is doing much better now.
It's good you'll be taking her in for a check-up.
Maybe she got a bad seed or something that upset her digestive system that particular day.
I'll look forward to your update after you see the vet.
