Default Simon - baby budgie on bottom of cage fluffy and half closed eyes

He was fine and his usual playful self all day. I went to dinner with friends and found him in a corner of the cage fluffed up with half closed eyes when I came home. He's my baby who hasn't been through his first molt yet. He is hand tame and willingly hopped onto my fingers so I moved him into a quarantine cage. He did take millet from me and I just saw him drink. It is too late for any avian vet in my area. What do I do?

You’ve made a good decision in moving him into a smaller separate cage. You could try to make up some guardian angel for now and contact the vet in the morning.

Hope he picks up. Best of luck.

Please let us know how your little budgie (name?)
is doing after your visit with the Avian Vet today.

Prayers for a full and speedy recovery.

Simon didn't seem any better this morning, and the avian vet couldn't find anything wrong. He said the Guardian Angel mix and keeping him quarantined is the best I can do for now. I stayed home to keep a close eye on him today. He is unusually quiet, but he is no longer hiding on the bottom of the cage, his eyes are fully open and he isn't as fluffy. Here's hoping for the best.
He never stopped eating or drinking, and his droppings have never looked odd.

I'm so sorry Simon doesn't seem to be improving.

I'm glad you took him in to the Avian Vet and will be sending lots of healing energy and prayer for your little fellow.

I hope Simon starts improving, make sure the area you have him in is warm and has no drafts, when a bird is ill much of their energy goes to keeping their body temperature stable, the fact that he is even a bit fluffed indicates that he may be feeling chilled and is trying to trap as much warmth as he can next to his body by fluffing up.

Today Simon seems perfectly fine. I'm going to keep him separate for several more days, but it is so good to hear his happy little voice again.

That’s great news Manon, and a wise decision to keep him where he is for a while longer.

I'm so glad to hear Simon is improving.

I'll move your thread over to the "Follow-Up" section of the forum.

Please be sure to let us know how he's doing in a couple of days.

Best wishes!
