Follow-up CenterThreads made in the Emergency Room forum will be moved here by staff as a way to follow-up with members after their budgie emergency.
This keeps the E.R. for only the most current emergencies.
I currently have two bird Jester the parakeet and Cicero a green cheek conure. Bard passed away in April. I normally let the birds loose in my office while I work but couldn't today until late. Still when I did Jester showed no interest in coming out. When she finally did she went directly to Ciceros cage to chew on his mineral blocks and then fell asleep on his perch. When I went to retrieve her back to her own cage I realized her face was gunky and that she was dropping a lot of feathers. I offered her a bath but she went to her own cuttlebone and then went to sleep. When she was awake she was rubbing her face and chest hard against her "Tooty Fruity Pollen Bird Perch" and on realizing how much of it she'd chewed though I removed it. She has gone down for food a few times but otherwise is sleeping constantly or grooming heavily along her chest. Cicero in his cage nearby is clinging to his bars watching her intensely and ignoring offers of treats and toys which is out of character for him. He is also doing his shrill alert call for seemingly no reason. Something is clearly abnormal here but I don't know if its Jester isn't feeling well from a molt and I can safely ignore it until monday when her usual vet is open or if this is something more serious.
It's impossible for us to judge from your description and the pictures. Since today is Sunday I think you should be able to wait until tomorrow morning to contact Jester's normal Avian Vet unless she is throwing up. Keep her warm and give her Guardian Angel or Pedialyte in the meantime. https://www.talkbudgies.com/articles...te-recipe.html
