Default I think my boy might be dying? I'm so scared

I have a horrible feeling, I literally feel like I'm going to throw up but I'm trying not to panic. My sweet boy Ozzy is acting very unwell. He's been acting completely normal lately and has been in a really good mood. Well, suddenly tonight we didn't see him. (We went on a drive to a different city for a few hours) and he's just been in his cage while we were gone. When we came back we were in the living room and Ozzy and the other budgie were sitting together just looking relaxed. Then about 30 mins later probably, we noticed our other bird was chirping on a different perch and Ozzy was nowhere to be found.

We looked in his cage and saw him sitting on the bottom of it. He was all puffy just sitting in the corner. At first we laughed because he looked cute. He's an English budgie and we love when he gets all puffy. But when I poked my finger through the bars to pet him and he seemed limp and didn't respond I got worried. I reached into the cage and he was just sitting there all limp. I took him out and he's just very lethargic. He only opens his eyes occasionally and his breathing is shallow.

The vets office is closed. I've tried putting his millet and his water right next to him and he's sitting on a folded up sheet on top of his cage now. I don't know what to do. I'm really really scared he's dying. I've never seen anything like this before. I'm trying to think of what could have happened. Did he eat something that fell on the floor that we didn't see? Does he have a tumor or something? Is he just older than we thought he was? He was an adult when we got him but I don't know exactly how old he was. We thought he was only a year or just under that. I don't know what to do

Sorry if this doesn't make any sense. I'm trying not to panic. I have no idea what to do

I am so sorry to hear about Ozzy. Budgies mask illness, so it can be easy to not notice anything until they are very sick. First, you can keep him warm by partially or mostly covering the cage. You can put Pedialyte in his water. Here is a recipe: https://www.talkbudgies.com/your-bud...te-recipe.html. Are there any vet emergency rooms in your area?

These are a few things you can do right now. Best wishes for your little one.

Thank you 😞 I put him in our small quarantine cage covered on all but one side, with a fresh millet spray by him and fresh water low down and a heating pad underneath him. We turned the lights off and have it quiet. His legs have gone out behind him and his toes are curling like when you see wild birds who have passed away so that really scares me. I put some quiet relaxing music on for him but my husband thought it would make it worse and there should be silence so I turned it off. He's breathing shallowly and his head moves when breathing. I never expected this, especially so suddenly and so soon. I'm scared for my baby. He's our sweet baby boy and I don't want to lose him, especially not so soon. I can't believe this is happening. 😞
All the vets in my area are closed.

We just checked on him and I'm really scared. I have a horrible feeling. He's just laying there with his eyes closed and his head is twitching. I'm really scared he's dying. I can't believe it. I wish I knew what happened. I wish I knew what was wrong. I wish I knew how to help him. I feel so horrible.

He's gone. I can't believe it. I don't know what to do. I'm at a loss. I don't know how to handle this. I feel so horrible for him and also for anyone else who has lost their budgie. This is a very horrible night. I wish it wasn't real. It feels like a nightmare.

Oh gosh Sky, I'm so sorry to hear about Ozzy. You gave him a good life full of love and attention, and did everything you could to help him and keep him comfortable.

May Ozzy fly high and free over Rainbow bridge,

Rest easy my friend.

Thank you. this is so sad, it's so hard. I can't believe this happened. I never would have believed someone if they told me I was going to lose him so soon and so suddenly.

I am so sorry. Ozzy was so lucky to be so comfortable as he took flight over the rainbow bridge. He was so loved!

I'd suggest contacting your avian vet when they open to help you find out what happened and keep your other budgie healthy.

I wish you peace. You did all you could. <3
