Default Overdose on Marbocyl!

I had to give Cutie metcam and marbocyl both once in a day but I gave her marbocyl in the afternoon 0.05ml and 0.05ml at around 9pm by mistake. I called the emergency clinic and the regular vet there said that Cutie should be fine, as its a normal antibiotic. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Yes, it's an antibiotic, so that amount of an overdose won't be fatal to Cutie. Don't worry - just keep an eye on her. Most likely she will have uncomfortable droppings, etc. as antibiotics tend to kill all gut microflora as well. You should try and find some probiotics to give to her in order to help maintain her gut health as she does this course of antibiotics. I hope she feels better soon!

Thank you so much

So I am giving a little bit of Avimix like a knife point amount in her harrisons recovery everyday but I gave it to her right now aswell, hopefully it will do the job btw can I give her probiotic more than once in a day? As its such a tiny amount in her harrisons recovery not sure if anything is actually going in. Also marbocyl and metcam both I am giving her on her harrisons recovery. So she gets harrisons recovery a lot.

In general, a budgie should not be receiving a probiotic when it is receiving an anti-biotic.
Usually, the Avian Vet will tell you to wait until the anti-biotic course has been completed before you start back on an anti-biotic.
Please check with your vet rather than asking about these types of matters on the forum.
We are not professionals and are not qualified to diagnose nor prescribe for your birds.

Yes, I should have clarified my post above - the probiotics are AFTER the course of the antibiotics are finished - thanks for that, FaeryBee!

As mentioned, you should be sure to ask your avian vet before giving her anything as we can't tell you what is best for her over the forums!

Thanks, I can't call the vet regarding probiotic today as its sunday. But I haven't given her probiotic today, I will start the probiotic after her medication course is completed.
