So my mom just bought me 2 budgies as a surprise. I don't know either of their genders or ages. If you're an expert I need to know their sex. Thanks a lot

They both are males, and it looks like they might have scaly mites, particularly your yellow guy (unless the male's cere tends to get crusty like the female's when she's in condition, but I don't think this is the case). Hopefully others will chime in on this.

Check out these posts: https://talkbudgies.com/your-budgies-...ace-mites.html

Also, if your budgies were purchased at a shop with a health guarantee, you can see if the shop will pay for an avian vet to look at them and treat them.

Best of luck! What are their names?

Thanks a lot guys. I had them since two weeks and I noticed that the yellow one is always puffy(shaky and gets his feather out) and sneezes a lot because one time I fed them fry hand and he sneezed on me! I don't know what's the matter. By the way their names are Hadeel and Samhar(Arabic names).

They're both handsome adult males. Their ceres and beaks do not look normal. Their ceres are dry and peeling (which is sometimes normal) but their beaks look whitish and pitted (indicating the possibility of scaly face mites). The yellow bird's puffiness indicates he is sick.

I suggest you take them to an avian vet as soon as possible. You can find one here: Association of Avian Veterinarians.

Best wishes.

Thanks a lot guys, but I read that a light blue cere is a female not on breeding mood and that's what I thought of the blue one. Anyways thanks again, I'll take them to a vet asap

Male cere can be lighter blue when young or not in breeding mode.
Male cere in breeding mode are shiny, deep royal blue.

Default Help!

Hey guys, so I just bought a new pair of budgies and they seem to be a good pair. Appearantly, they are still young and the pet store says they are male and a female. I'm not pretty sure about it because they both seem females to me. If anyone of you guys know their genders please tell me which is which, and are they both females?

In the first picture, the green budgie on the left is female. The mostly yellow budgie looks male to me.
