Default So confused about sexing

I seem to be getting different explanations of what is a boy vs a girl based on the color cere. I thought I knew, then I read a long thread on here, and now I just have no clue

I'm hoping someone can help me out in the sex of my budgie. I know it's early, if it's too early, I will just have to wait

I'm going to post a couple different images in different lighting. Some pictures it looks really dark and others lighter, but always brown. My budgie, I was told by the breeder is about 4 weeks now, but on this forum I've heard more like 6 weeks. His beak is still very dark.

Hopefully these pictures are added, my first time adding pics. Any insight would be helpful and appreciated, thanks!!

I think it's a boy... The cere still contains melanin but I also see a slightly purplish hue. By the way, your bird is a cutie!

Yep! I agree. You have a little boy.

His cere is a little oddly colored due to the excess melanin in very young chicks! (The black coloration on the beak) Once he gets older the melanin will clear up! Baby boys tend to have a solid purple/pink colored cere, which is what I see with your babe!

Still very young, but the darkness of the Pink would lead me to think boy also...as the next few week's go by, it should become much more obvious gender wise...

I also think he's male.

Melanin (black coloring on beak) indicates a very young bird. Four weeks sounds about right (if that's what Lindsey told you).

Take a look at the threads linked below.
After reading through them you should have a much better idea with regard to how to determine gender.

Thank you so much for all the input, I'm glad you all agree on one sex
Thank you for all the links too. Believe it or not, I've read most of them , but I was always told males have blue ceres, and females are purple or pink.

I will have to read these links again and make a small list.

Thank you all SO much!! You all are really awesome!!

IT'S A BOY!!
