Wow my baby Peety has the loudest chirps its making my eardrums ring! He is more settled in with me now and has decided its fun to chirp more. Holy eardrums batman! lol I think having his cage right next to me while I sip my morning coffee might have to change or I may end up with a hearing problem.

Im wondering if he hears my neighbors budgies? I cannot hear them at all but maybe he does?

LOL! Yes they can get loud sometimes huh? My new little girl started screeching yesterday. Glad she's getting more comfortable but talk about loud! Luckily it's only in short bursts for now My parrotlet Bella can get a little noisy too at certain times of the day and they are suppose to be relatively quite but oh well. If it was all day long thing then it would be another story.

If you think one little budgie is loud you should try having four plus three lovebirds.

Budgies do have very good hearing and he may hear your neighbor's budgies but he may also just like the sound of his own voice. Plus, if you pay more attention to him when he gets LOUDER then that is reinforcement of his behavior.

I think I may be mad as I love my budgies loudness most of the time! I think it's because it doesn't happen often where they r off the scale loud! But when they do I usually talk back in my high pitched voice and it stops them as they kinda got the attention they were looking for! I love them expressing themselves - makes me laugh! Especially when tilly screams at Harley if he goes down to his seed bowl without her - then ear plugs at the ready!!!! It makes me giggle!!
Only time I have to walk away if phone calls come in or I'm making one!

But hand on heart it's a rare occasion that they r loud - it's usually small chit chat all day to each other! Xx

It just occurred to me that you have another thread discussing the possibility of getting another budgie.
Please keep in mind that the noise level is going to increase tremendously with two.

Pepper and Peatri only choose to be ear piercingly loud when they are on my shoulder, right next to my ear. Talk about needing a hearing aid afterwards. And then there's Buddy. He makes his angry budgie noises all day long some days, and as loud as he can possibly be. Sometimes Lonny will say "shhh, quiet" and they actually quiet down for a second or two. Unfortunately it doesn't last forever. Then he's right back to screeching away. I love their charter though, I think it's therapeutic. And yes they do get louder with the tv being on. Lonny will come in the house and I'll have the tv blaring, and he's just low, "what the heck is going on in here?" lol.

I love it when Bubbles chirps. He likes to scream lots at night time.
