Default A question for budgie masters

I just picked up two more male budgies, Thor and Ra, respectively. After the quarantine time (separated from my one Zeus) I moved the cage into my room next to Zeus'. During the cleaning time Zeus took flight and went straight for the cage that housed Thor and Ra and just moved himself right in. They are all getting along, no bickering or pecking....yet.

My question is this. Is it better to move Zeus back out into his cage for the next week like recommended or to just leave them be? They seem to be happy and content right now.

All help greatly appreciated.

Welcome to talk budgies Michael...we would love to see pics of your flock...

I am no budgie master by any stretch....In my opinion,
if the quarantine time is over, and they are getting along, I would leave them together. Your cage is big enough for three ? Really I would consider looking for another bird to add to the flock so one isn't left out...

Thanks for the advice. I may have mislead a bit by master lol, just someone who has had more experience than myself.

As requested, here's a picture I took recently of my 3 gods hanging out.

The cage can easily hold more (the dimensions provided were misleading) but they are happy with the space to fly around.

That is a real nice cage and will hold four nicely. Are you sure of your bird's gender's ? From the pic it was hard for me to see cere color. If you post front closeup's without flash we can verify....

Hi Michael and to Talk Budgies!

The only problem you may find with having three males in the cage is that one will end up being the "third wheel".
So, if you do have three of the same gender, you may want to consider getting a fourth as Randy suggested so that everybudgie has a friend to pal around with.

Your budgies are very pretty and your cage is great!

Hurray! Too cute! If they are cool with chillin', I say leave them be but also make sure Zeus has access to his own 'room' too, just in case. I also am for getting a fourth to even it out. Can't wait for more pics!!!

Thank you all for the great advice and being so welcoming. I can sort of see the "third wheel" situation playing out here and there, but nothing to far gone just yet. Would it be better to wait for a bit to get a fourth or to just go for it now?

Ill try for some more pictures soon, along with clearer cere pics. Zeus (blue) still seems to be adjusting to having more than just himself in one cage. Even though I've had him longer, he is still the youngest, at least from all the material I've read. He still has the stripes on his forehead yet.

No problem with waiting a bit to see how things play out if that is what you prefer.
Please remember, you're going to need to quarantine the new budgie in a different cage in a different room for 4-6 weeks if you choose to get another.
