Default Do I have two males?

Hi there. I wondered if you could help with the sexes of my two. They are around 4 to 5 months old I think now. I am pretty sure Oscar ( sky blue and white) is male but more unsure on Charlie ( yellow face). He has the same shade of purple/pink as Oscar but appears to have the nostril rings of a female.

Well, I usually end up being wrong so don't go by what I have to say, but Charlie looks like a female to me.

Charlie and Oscar are BOTH adorable little budgies, Wendy!

Very cute birds! Both look male to me because of their purplish cere.

I'm gonna have to go with Deb on this one, I think Charlie's a girl. I see white rings around the cere. Either way, Beautiful birds!

Thanks everyone. It's the white rings that confuse me. I thought females had a paler and blueish tint to their ceres too. Charlie is more of a purple. I guess time will tell lol.

Wendy:

The white rings are what lead me to believe it is a female, however, on certain mutations I seem to be inevitably incorrect.

Take a look at these threads for more information with regard to determining gender:

Hi.. and welcome... Charlie and Oscar are very pretty birds!! No matter what FaeryBee says about her accuracy, she is very knowledgeable and is probably right. It's funny how some mutations really hide gender identification. I'm anxious to hear Charlie's outcome.. either way, he/she can still be Charlie (or Carly), right?
